Yup, my mate even had the nickname of shATLAS. I had a go at it with my mate and it really hasn’t changed much at all. If you look at Positives/Negatives of my review of the game, just see the ratio of pros and cons. Game is fucked. Honestly the only thing I liked about the game is the boat building, tech tree and the different resource classes. Everything else was fucking awful. The melee system, beefy af pirates with aimbot, HEATWAVE whoever had the final say on that shit can actually fucking neck. Literally kills you within 5 seconds of respawning. So when it starts, you may as well just go afk and play CoC or some shit while you wait.

I tried to progress in that game (local host) and it was as boring as Stranded Deep. Sailing one island to the next trying to find something different or just generally progress but the map is massive that it takes you 10 minutes to go from island to island and you have to find very specific island to find all these mythical enemies.

I eventually just said fuck it this shit is boring and annoying to play with it’s stupid mechanics and flow so I just decided to end playing the game. But before I did, I spawned all the enemies just to see what they are like and holy fuck the kraken is fkn insane. That thing is the size of an island. I understand that the game is supposed to be more aim focused towards having a bigger ground and allying with other groups but still, ark didn’t have a problem with finding bosses etc. Yes the maps aren’t near as big but it’s obvious to find where you need to go to progress.

Speaking of progress, gold is dumb af and you shouldn’t need gold to make shit especially a ship.

Anyway other games I’ve been jamming are Ghost Recon Breakpoint and I tried playing Black Ops 3 MP yesterday which they fucked the multiplayer. There was a BO3 revival day that happened a week and a bit ago so I decided why not since I’ve yet to properly play MP. I get 240 fps in zombies and I get 80 with stutters on MP. Apparently there was a steam update that broke something or whatever and there’s fixes that inject into the game but it looked sketch af that I didn’t want a ban. Despite the shit performance, I still think the game is very casual due to the specialist abilities. I was never a fan of games that had abilities or heros or specialists etc as it fucks balance a lot but also I just want raw competition. Was the reason I loved Halo a lot and wish I got into quake back in the day.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is pretty fun and a lot more enjoyable than Wildlands. I found Wildlands very static and repetitive which Breakpoint keeps you interested with the future-esque technology & cool easter eggs. Not many bugs which is a plus.

As far as game dev, it’s going good but at this point in time it’s gonna be a bit slow with the progress due to me doing a course of process manufacturing (forklift licence) which will go for a couple weeks. Why am I doing it? Well 1. it’s free 2. I think it’s a good backup card just incase if something goes tits up and I’m having a financial issue whether it’s a natural disaster/some rando cunt robs my shit/have to move out due reasons/house burns down etc. It’s basically something I can guarantee finding work with and something I prefer to do that isn’t dealing with bullshit customers.

So basically my game dev time is halved due to this being a 5 day thing. Even sometimes taking off game nights to catch up on dev stuff.

So a recap on what I’ve done in the last month. I finished doing the modular weapons and it works flawlessly, it took 3 weeks but I’m proud of myself of the current system. It works with attachments and detaching weapon parts or I call them “Mechanisms” will detach the other Mechanisms and attachments that are attached to and put them into the inventory. Since my game is going to be more of an arena shooter, you wont be able to swap parts around in-game unless it’s while in the weapon loadout screen. But in my survival game I will most likely use it so I need a specific workbench to swap out parts because each part will have different stats on the gun overall so changing those in the middle of fights will have balancing issues that I want to avoid. Attachments will be able to be swapped out in-game though.

How the system so far works:

I don’t want to show anything yet but keep my word, it’s pretty cool how each part connects to each other. Like you have have AK receiver mixed with M4 handguard or even mix it with a SCAR H barrel and base grip. But don’t fret, I wont go in the direction of MW22 on how ridiculous the double edged sword mechanic is in that awful trash.

Apart from modular weapons I’ve been working on, I’ve merged with a FPS MP Template. Before you shit talk for asset flips I will be using it as a base for now because creating a main menu with gamemodes on top of having classes is already a lot of fucking work which would take me months alone. It took me a few days to get it working with my current character and weapon setup. There is still a lot to rework in it but its works pretty decently with it. The template also has a gamemode creator which I am truly appreciative of them making because that would of taken a while to make and the fact that I was planning to make something like that eventually.
